She did it again. Meryl Streep has offered us an outstanding interpretation as a main actress, where you do understand and believe the character she is playing. She also delights us as a pretty good singer, deep voice, as we could see in Mamma Mía.
Ricky is an old rock star who sings and plays the guitar in a band called Flash. She has a family, a husband (Kevin Kline) and three children, and left them years ago to go after her dream of becoming a musician.
But one day, she is asked to come back home to help her dauhther (Mamie Gummer, her dauther in real life too), who is dealing with a neglect, and that brings them a lot of peculiar situations, not always easy.
Rejection, abandonment, fear of not being accepted, that’s what they feel in their own family, because of their mistakes in the past. But those feelings can turn into some hope and joy if they all can forgive and forget to start over.
Drama and comedy, well mixed, make this film believable and close, make us like this eccentric woman and her family. Worth to watch.
